Highlights of the Sabbath year
These are some of the highlights, things we've learned, or eaten, things that have been fun in our Sabbath year.
- Eating together around one table every day, and how that has deepened community.
- Enrolling our first soldier, with more in the pipeline.
- People getting free from addiction.
- People wandering in to ask for prayer for healing, and staying to get discipled.
- A blank slate to start again, in looking at who we are and what we're here for.
- Helpful to prioritise a day off and the need for rest every week, sets us up for the rest of life and ministry.
- It has been restful. Not that there's not been busyness or activity, but the pressure has been taken off.
- Harvest when cupboard load after cupboard load after cupboard load of food kept arriving and we struggled to find space to store it.
- When food for charities started to donate fresh fruit and veg just as we started to get sick of (donated) courgette soup.
- When Joan prayed for tomatoes to come in, to make soup with, and we were inundated and it raised peoples’ faith to pray for bigger, more significant things.
- Healings. So many healings. All the time. Backs, necks, shoulders, stomachs, legs, dogs. Every week we’ve had testimonies shared of how God has been healing.
- Becoming family, we're closer together.
- We've eaten a LOT of Subway platters.
- 'Sitting by the well', getting off the hamster wheel, leaving the rat race.
- Seeing the corps expand and people grow.
- Learning to make soup.
- Miracles of provision, healing, kindness...
- Harvest supper and Barn Dance.
- Priorities re-set correctly.
- Even though lots of our older people entered into their Eternal Rest this year, our numbers are not only keeping up, but growing.
- 130th birthday celebrations.
